6th activity: "Hello, here Earth!”
In “Hello, here Earth!”, the month of March was mostly dedicated to Geography. Geography teachers and their students intended to celebrate the World Meteorological Day (23rd March) and therefore, all the activities were created bearing this date in mind.
Thus, the students studied the geographic coordinates and they located some places on the Earth's surface. They also consulted IPMA (the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere) to calculate climatic indicators, such as average temperature, temperature range and total rainfall. Moreover, they organised an exhibition with posters and thermopluviometric graphs of different regions of the world. Besides, Portuguese proverbs and sayings related to the weather were displayed at school.
Additionally, the participants in this project located the partner cities (Guimarães, Garwolin, Slatina and Constanta) on a map and they checked the distance between them. Lastly, they visited the project website for further information about the schools and their location.
In the meantime, the website is being updated.
